The HD9817TC program allows easily managing the HD9817T transmitters from your PC: you can view the instrument measurements on your PC monitor in real time and calibrate the relative humidity sensor.
1. For models requiring connection to a USB port
(through the HD9817T1CAL USB interface and the HD9817T3), before connecting
the instrument to your PC, please install the drivers supplied.
We advise you to carefully follow the "Guide to the
USB driver installation and removal" in the section Documents
in the HD9817TC software package.
2. Connect the transmitter to your PC.
3. To start the program, double click on the program icon on the desktop or select the HD9817TC item in the
DeltaOhm folder in the Start menu.
The software main window will open:
4. Select the communication port (COM) to which the transmitter is connected:
5. Press the Connect button: |
|
The software will establish the connection:
Once connected, the window showing the instrument details will be displayed:
If the connection is successful, in the lower corner of the screen the "Instrument connected" symbol will appear on a green background:
If the connection fails, the following symbol on a red background will be displayed instead:
If the program cannot connect to the instrument, see the Troubleshooting section of this manual.
When you end your session, press the Disconnect key to unplug the instrument. This command will make the USB or serial port available for other applications.
Note: don't unplug your PC connection cable when the connection is active. Before unplugging the cable, press the Disconnect key.
Once you connect the transmitter correctly, as explained above, press the START key to receive measurements:
Temperature and relative humidity values are updated once per second.
To switch from Celsius (°C) to Fahrenheit (°F) degrees, before connecting the instrument, select Instrument >> Unit of measurement for Temperature>> Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F).
The HD9817TC software allows a 2-point calibration (33% and HD75% RH) for the relative humidity sensor.
No calibration is required for the temperature sensor.
To calibrate probes correctly, it is highly important that you know and follow physical phenomena on which measurements are based: therefore we advise you to comply with the following instructions and perform new calibrations only if you have the technical know-how.
Before starting the calibration, it is advisable to make sure that a new calibration is necessary, using the 33%RH and 75.4%RH saturated salt solutions: only if you find a measurement error in at least one point, you can perform the calibration.
To calibrate the sensor correctly, the first point must be at 75%RH and the second point at 33%RH.
Before starting.
1. Make sure that inside the chamber containing the saturated salt solutions there are at the same time:
solid salt,
liquid solution or wet salt.
2. The instrument and the saturated solutions to be used must be kept in an environment at stable temperature during the whole calibration process.
3. Unscrew the protection grid of the probe and screw the M12X1 thread of the saturated solution cap.
4. If there is any liquid inside the measurement chamber, dry it with clean absorbent paper.
5. Screw the thread to the bottle. Do not touch the sensitive element with your hands or any other liquid or object.
6. Once the sensor is inserted, wait for at least 30 minutes.
7. Connect the transmitter to your PC.
8. Start the HD9817TC program and establish the connection.
9. Read temperature from the probe.
10. Press the CAL RH% key to switch to RH% calibration mode: |
|
11. Use the arrow keys to set the saturated solution humidity depending on the temperature reading.
12. Press the CAL 75% key. Then press OK.
13. Follow the same instructions to perform the 33% calibration:
14. Press the MEASURE key to go back to measurement mode: |
|
The menu includes all program functions.
Exit
It closes the program.
Instrument info
When the instrument is connected, a window including all basic information on the instrument will be displayed:
Unit of measurement for temperature
It allows switching temperature unit of measurement from Celsius to Fahrenheit degrees:

Connection failure
If the program cannot connect, check the following:
if you are using a serial connection, make sure that there are no other programs using serial ports ( ex. Hyperterminal). If so, close these applications and try again.
Don't use any extension for the serial cable.
If other instruments are connected to other serial ports ( ex. a modem), they may interfere with the HD9817TC program.
USB connection problems
The HD9817TC software package includes a guide to install, remove and repair USB drivers.
For any connection problems, see this guide.
